Looking for a way to make writing more exciting for your students? Meet Classroom Critters—adorable pom-pom companions that bring imagination and motivation into the classroom! Designed to help students verbalise their story ideas and engage deeply in the writing process, these critters are the perfect blend of creativity and literacy-building fun.
Research in oral language development emphasises the importance of verbalising ideas to improve writing. By speaking their stories aloud, students strengthen their vocabulary, sequencing, and ability to articulate thoughts—skills essential for confident writing. Paired with tools like phonic phones, Classroom Critters take this process further by enhancing self-editing and accuracy.
Classroom Critters aren’t just for writing—they can support other areas of literacy development. For example, during reading, students can “read aloud” to their critter, building fluency and confidence. Or use them during group discussions to encourage shy students to express ideas.
Classroom Critters foster a nurturing, focused classroom environment where every student feels empowered to write and share their stories. Pair them with phonic phones to supercharge clarity and accuracy in self-expression.
